TAKE YOUR HATS OFF TIGERS FANS, AN AMAZING EFFORT !!! Having only days ago celebrated it's 130th birthday the Richmond Football Club will achieve a feat that the founding members could not possibly fathom. From its humble beginnings in the late 19th Century the Richmond Football Club has grown to become a league powerhouse in 2015. With a history steeped in tradition and success, the early years of glory 1902,1905 (VFA), 1920, 1921,1932,1934,1943, the Hafey Dynasty 1967,1969,1973,1974, and what Yellow and Black Bleeder could forget the 1980 Slaughter of the D R Wobbles. Gone are the lost years, at time ruled by instability, unrest, and a revolving door of players and coaches, we've survived the past , JUST!
The long term cost of the Poaching Wars, was the catalyst for the Save our Skins Campaign, the Fighting Tiger Fund meant that the club no longer is held back by the shackles of debt. With a new found stability in all areas, from President Peggy O'Neal, CEO Brendan Gale and Coach Damien Hardwick down, the Richmond Tigers are on the way back to where we belong ON TOP !!!!! Our recruiting woes have been addressed, we now have an exciting talented list that will only get better, more mature as the years pass. The deeds of Cotchin, Lids, Martin, Ellis, Rance and the list goes on, will be spoken about in future as we speak about our Old Time Tiger Hero's at present. Their future is yet to be written, but I am sure it will say , "They were like The Tigers Of Old STRONG and BOLD". 2015 the year of great unknowns, but one thing is for certain , we will get to sing, and we will SING OFTEN and VERY, VERY LOUD !!! 2015 The Year To Fear The Tigers
